Above is a complete list of the 169 known men assigned to or previously assigned to Mike Company who were killed in Vietnam. For reference the names were researched through the Mike 3/7 Association, Mr. David L. Ray’s Book: A Marines Promise to God, The Virtual Wall, The Wall of Faces, and were then cross-checked through The Coffelt Database. All names were confirmed by The Coffelt Group who provided Mike Co. records.

Second Lieutenant Marion “Sandy” Kempner

During his time in Vietnam 2nd Lt. Kempner, Known as “Sandy“, wrote many poignant, humorous and insightful letters home. A platoon commander in Mike Company 3/7 he was killed on Nov. 11, 1966, but his letters were turned into a book: Letters from Sandy. Later, When the book Dear America: Letters Home from Vietnam was published a few of his letters made it into the book. Eventually, HBO made the book into a very good documentary, featuring scores of top actors narrating different letters. One of Sandy’s letters is featured in this documentary, below is a short clip with his letter.
