AN ORAL HISTORY & PRESERVATION PROJECT • VIETNAM 1965–1970
Preserving the Stories of Mike Company
A Common Virtue preserves the Vietnam history of Mike Company, 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines, by connecting veteran interviews, photographs, maps, memorials, family memories, and official Marine Corps records into one growing educational archive.
Through these individual stories and historical sources, the project works to preserve the human experience behind the official record before it is lost.

Hear Their Stories
Firsthand accounts are the starting point. Explore the Marines and Corpsmen whose memories help connect the people, places, photographs, and events of Mike Company's Vietnam history.
History is lived one person at a time.
A Common Virtue records the men who can still tell their stories while working to preserve and reconstruct the stories of those who are no longer here to tell them themselves. Interviews, photographs, maps, documents, memorial research, and family histories are continuing to be collected, digitized, researched, and connected.
There is a limited amount of time left to capture these memories. Once the veterans are gone, official records may remain—but the personal context behind photographs, letters, places, people, and events can become impossible to recover.
